Notes: |
Almost covered ground but always mostly heavy rain with some hail mixed in. All was spherical, no elongated shapes or odd shapes. All was dense. Rather uniform in size, all more than 1/4" and mostly around 3/8". Hail ended after around 4 minutes, then started again a couple minutes later with larger pieces, still uniform less than 1/2", lasting only a couple minutes. Hail on pavement almost entirely melted during the few minutes between the two episodes when heavy rain was falling and quickly again after the second when rain ended (more on the way), but still a lot of hailstones remain between blades of grass.
Morning hail pad examination revealed 3 deep gashes, two on the edge of the pad and one toward the middle, all very narrow. I will keep the pad in service because it is still mostly good for recording future events. |
